( March 13, 2026, 2:32 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on March 13 announced it is proposing amendments to the 2024 National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for ethylene oxide (EtO), a chemical that is used in facilities that sterilize medical equipment, and which has been the subject of litigation over allegations that exposure to it causes cancer.
